Your Eco-Friendly Summer Starts Here
This post is sponsored by Upway: helping you find your ideal e-bike!
summertime and the livin’s easy 🎶
It’s June, and I’m SO excited to get out and do stuff!
But who am I kidding - I’m happiest locked in the theater, dancing with my friends.
Right now, I’m a tap-dancing egg in Something Rotten (yes, really) and it’s been such a joyful, ridiculous ride. I’ve also taken over publicity for the show… and it’s a little unhinged but I’m having SO MUCH FUN.
Still, with the weather finally warming up here in Maine after what felt like weeks of rain, I’m hoping to squeeze in a little sunshine between shows.
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is bike down to the ferry and spend the day riding around Peaks Island. It’s truly a magical experience!
Even though the water is pretty chilly, I’ll brave it in a cute sustainable swimsuit and can’t forget my reef-safe sunscreen. But if you accidentally overdo it in the sun, here are some of my go-to natural sunburn remedies.
So whether you’re headed to the beach, a cookout, or just your own backyard, I hope you get a chance to soak up the season. You can find more tips (plus a few eco Father’s Day gift ideas) on my blog:
📌 10 Eco-Friendly Beach Essentials
Heading to the beach? These are the reusable, low-waste must-haves I pack every summer—because fun in the sun shouldn’t come with single-use plastic.
📌 How to Have an Eco-Friendly BBQ
Hosting a summer cookout? This guide makes it easy to throw a delicious, low-waste BBQ—complete with sustainable grill tips, decor, and more.
📌 17 Best Reusable Water Bottles
Hot weather = hydration season. Whether you’re hiking, beaching, road-tripping, or just trying to drink more water, these are the most durable, leakproof, and eco-friendly bottles I’ve tested.
One of the best changes I’ve made to reduce my car use? Setting a simple rule: if my destination is under 30 minutes away, I don’t drive - I walk or bike, and having an e-bike has made that goal so much easier.
It’s fun. Practical. And one of my favorite low-waste swaps for summer! If you’re thinking about making the switch, you’ve got to check out Upway. They’re kind of like CarMax but for e-bikes. Offering new and certified refurbished models from top-tier brands at up to 60% off retail.
Every bike is professionally inspected by a mechanic, ships to your door in under a week, and comes with a one-year warranty. You can use the code ZEROWASTE100 for $100 off any e-bike over $1,000. (And if you have one you’re not using? They buy e-bikes too.)
